Redding's Ups and Downs

Real Estate's Ups and Downs
October 23rd, 2008 7:29 AM

We all know that the market is not up but down.  What a great time for buyers.  When the market was up, I felt sorry for the first time buyers that just could not afford their first home.  And some people think Realtors want higher prices for the commission.  Not!

The time is now.  Even renters in today's market should be weighing their options with low home prices and great interest rates.  We've been able to help nieces and nephews buy their first home.  What a great feeling that is for them and for us.

The Beauty of Autumn
October 29th, 2008 6:49 AM

If you're wanting to see some beautiful fall colors, head up in the mountains above Whitmore.   You really don't have to go to the East Coast for spectacular views.  When buying groceries for the weekend trip, the checker commented that he's never really thought about heading in that direction.   Neither had we until our son and family moved to Whitmore.  It's worth the drive.

We camped there last weekend with our grandsons and even the four year old kept saying how bootiful is was looking down at the valley below, and the yellows and reds covering the hillsides.  We are so lucky living in an area surrounded by the look, feel, and sound of nature.

We're so lucky
October 20th, 2008 6:38 PM

Right now I'm looking at the views of Mt.Lassen, Shasta Bally, and the Yollo Bollys.

We have miles of running, walking and bike trails right on the Sacramento River.... you can't help but enjoy the outdoors here. Why would you not want to live in Shasta County.

Our area offers an incredible lifestyle for everyone.

Migration
October 18th, 2008 12:40 PM

Yesterday when I was outside I was delighted to see all the birds in our yard that were migrating through.   Even though I know they won't stay long, it brightened my day.

I had forgotten that the Tanengers pass through this time of year.  They're so colorful.  The colors of fall, I suppose.

Now is the time for that fall house cleaning.  But the fun part is reward yourself when you're done.  Buy something special for your home.  I almost hate to shop in October because there are so many beautiful Autumn collections to choose from.

But enjoy the season, because right around the corner is Christmas.  Yikes!

Nice evening
October 17th, 2008 9:07 AM

Last night, our family went to Buzz's Fish and Chips to celebrate our son's birthday.  We ranged in age from 5 months to 87 years old.  It was a great get together.  On the way home, as we were crossing the old bridge over the river, I looked up.  The "picture" was beautiful.  The full moon was shining not only on the  river, but also the Sun Dial Bridge and the Market Street bridge and everything in between.  Nice reminder of what a great place this is to live.

Since fish and chips is my mother's favorite food, I was wondering if anyone out their has other restaurants they think are just as good or better.  Let me know.  Thanks

You have to love Autumn
October 15th, 2008 6:48 AM

The colors, the cool nights.  What a great time of year.  Special to me for many reasons.  The hot summer is over. Yippee! My father, first son, and first grandson were all born in October.  Plus my mom and dad were married October, 1945.  Looking out our window, overlooking Redding, the leaves are just starting to change color.  By Thanksgiving, our   window will frame nature's work of art.

Shopping has never been my first love.  But if shopping is on the agenda, I like looking for my grandsons and home accents the most.  The autumn colored candles, Halloween decor, and soft cozy pillows are just too much to resist.

Many of the birds that live at our home in summer are beginning to migrate.  I will miss them until they return in spring.

Small Houses Need to be Staged
October 1st, 2008 8:59 AM

In previewing homes last week, I was able to visit smaller homes and bank owned homes.

The smaller homes on the market needed to be staged.  Too many personal items, too much stuff.  Room to room, there was usually no balance.  My heart goes out to those people needing to sell, but not knowing where to start.  For those thinking of selling in the near future, I will do complimentary staging if you list with us.  Explore our website, we love helping people move forward with real estate goals.  And our education, above what is needed for a real estate license, helps protect sellers.

The REO properties are vacant, and with just a few touches with vignettes added such as a bistro set with linen and iced tea glasses, a rocking chair with a small table beside it with a book and reading glasses, etc.  These vignettes can be added to any vacant homes or rooms.
